Natural Remedies for a Yeast Infection
The best information on treating yeast infections! Try these natural remedies for the signs of a yeast infection or oral thrush symptoms.
Treating yeast infections naturally isn't as difficult as it may seem. Infections of yeast are caused by a fungus called Candida albicans, which normally lives in your body in small amounts. However, it can become overpopulated when your body's environment allows it, which causes you to get a yeast infection.
Thrush CausesThere are a few reasons your body may let the Candida overgrow into a problem. If you are taking antibiotics, they may kill off the “good bacteria” in your intestines and vagina that regulate how much Candida can grow there. Overgrowth can also occur if you have a weak immune system from illness, lack of sleep or high stress levels.
Yogurt For A Yeast Infection One of the best home remedies for yeast infections is to eat yogurt daily if you think you may have vaginal or mouth thrush. Yogurt is filled with live cultures that are probiotics, and will help restore the “good bacteria” your body need to fight off the yeast. You should also buy a plain, unflavored yogurt and insert ˝ teaspoon into the vagina every few hours to kill the yeast. Be sure that this yogurt has live cultures, because they are the fighting agent. If you decide to use this method, make sure you take a warm bath once or twice that day and clean the area well each time.
How to Cure A Yeast Infection The next remedy you should use as a home remedy for a yeast infection is to take supplements. Lactobacillus and acidophilus are very effective natural ways to fight yeast overgrowth and treat yourself without having to see a doctor. Take according to the dosage on the bottle. One of the best ways of treating yeast infections is to use garlic. You may eat it to help, but for full effectiveness it must be inserted into the vagina. This method worries many women, but it is a natural remedy that has been used for centuries.
Take a clove of garlic and remove the outer peels from it. Wrap the garlic in a piece of gauze, and stitch it closed. Then, tie a five inch string to the gauze; this will be used to remove the piece. You can insert the garlic either during the day or night, but it is recommended you sleep with it in because you will be able to taste the garlic in your mouth while it is in place.
It may be easier for you to sleep with it in. In the morning, remove the garlic and continue throughout your day, replacing with fresh garlic each night until the yeast infection is completely gone.
