A sinus infection is a relatively common medical condition which involves the inflammation of the sinuses. This inflammation can be caused by any number of irritants, including viral, bacterial, or even fungal sources.

A sinus infection should be diagnosed by a doctor, because the symptoms can resemble a cold, the flu, or even a migraine. Moreover, vulnerability to sinus infections can be related to other very serious health problems involving immunodeficiency. However, if you’ve had sinus infections before, and you’re thinking “Enough is enough!” then these natural methods might have something to offer you.
For the common sinus infection sufferer, there are some perfectly safe, absolutely effective measures you can take to prevent yourself from ever getting another one and making the one you have go away. Try these sinus infection home remedies.
Curing a sinus infection is all about getting what’s in your sinuses to go out your nose. The gunk up there carries the irritant, and you want it gone. You need to drain your nose in order for anything else to work. There are, of course, other considerations: clearing up your nose will lessen the sinusitis headaches and that awful swollen feeling.

Apple Cider Vinegar is a classic cure for all manner of ills, from high cholesterol to acne, as well as sinus infection home remedies. It also happens to do wonders for sinus infections. If you know that you’re about to get a sinus infection, start an ACV regimen immediately. If you get chronic sinus infections, consider making this a part of your daily routine: some people like to take their ACV right when they get up with a wedge of lime, like a morning cocktail.
There are two recommended ways to drink Apple Cider Vinegar. The first is spread out throughout the day: mix an eighth cup of ACV with two cups of water and drink the resulting mixture all day. The other recommended method is for those who prefer to get it all over quickly: put two tablespoons of ACV in a cup of water and knock it back.
These methods work better when they’re a part of your daily routine, but you can also use them when your sinus infection is in full force. You should see improvement immediately, and the infection should be gone in 3-5 days. ACV works because it thins mucus, it’s an antiseptic, and it’s full of potassium. These three qualities make it one of the most important ingredients in the DIY naturopath’s arsenal.
Besides the preventative Apple Cider Vinegar method, you might be looking for something a little tastier to drink as well (and, keep in mind, more fluids can’t hurt). When you’re in the throes of your sinus infection/cold/flu, nothing tastes better than this Cayenne, Ginger, and Garlic drink cure. Moreover, when you’re making the drink, you can breathe in the steam and clear up your nose as well.
Cayenne pepper clears up your nose no matter where you put it. If you’re feeling adventurous, you can actually snort it. However, for anyone who finds that too gross, you can also drink it with perfectly acceptable results. Ginger boosts your immune system, and Garlic has natural anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties, which combats the possible sources of infection. All together, this makes quite the super drink for sinus infection home remedies.

If you have a juicer, juice six cloves of garlic and a handful of ginger. Add a half cup of lemon juice and a half cup of water. Add a teaspoon of cayenne pepper, and heat the whole mixture to the temperature of hot tea. If you don’t have a juicer, fill an empty tea bag with the garlic and ginger finely grated, and steep it in the boiling lemon/water mixture. Either way, add honey to taste and drink up!
If any of these ingredients are too strong or too weak for you, you can change the quantities of the recipe. This is a drink to breathe in and drink slowly, which you can’t do if you don’t like it! Besides being perfect for sinus infections, it’s just an all around great drink.
Even the honey is good for you: so long as it’s local, you’re building up an immunity to the pollen in your area. To double your health benefits (and, likely, halve your enjoyment) add as much horseradish as you can stand to clear up your nose. If you drink this all day, you’ll feel better in no time.
There are many different ways to clear up a sinus infection, but between these two drinks, you’ll be on the path back to health in no time. Be sure to experiment with different methods to find which herbs harmonize with your needs. Everyone is different, toes to nose: that’s why it’s important to know yourself and some quality sinus infection home remedies.
