The Drowning Method
This common recipe to kill fruit flies is quite effective at catching and drowning the many that swarm your kitchen. Simply mix a few ounces of apple cidar vinegar with a few drops of dish detergent and place it in a very small glass. A shot glass works well for this. Then, place the glass next to your produce and dump/refill as often as necessary.
How to Make a Homemade Fruit Fly Trap
You will need:
- A glass/plastic bottle
- 1/4 cup lemonade
- Two inches plastic wrap
Pour the lemonade into the bottle; discard the cap. Cover the opening of the bottle with a bit of plastic wrap, and then poke a few small holes in it with a toothpick or sharp pencil. Turn the bottle on its side and leave near the fruit fly infestation. The small insects will crawl in to get the lemonade, but they cannot get out!
