Having big, frizzy hair isn't very fun, and it can be very hard to get rid of. Most expensive salon brand frizzy hair remedies that are bottled really don't work very well either. Dry curly hair needs specific attention to become soft and smooth. If you don't want to pay a lot for products, here are a few great alternatives!

Dry hair treatment is just a step away...

Do you have dry, frizzy hair or damaged hair that you'd just love to transform? Hoping to someday have moisturized, smooth model locks?

It's true, frizz and flyaways are often inherited. Without a special dry hair treatment, they're never going away.

Chemical relaxers and perms may help with the frizz problem, but must be maintained regularly, and grown out if no longer desired. They are also expensive to have done in salons, and damage your hair a lot. These options are not the best way to care for dry hair.

Is having dry hair a lost cause? Not at all. Does gorgeous, glossy hair need to be expensive? No way!

If you need to control frizzy hair, there are a few things you can do to turn around the entire problem and create luscious, moisturized strands.

I already mentioned the expensive, hair damaging option. Really, I don't think that's what most women are after!

How about an inexpensive home treatment option, to cure dry hair? That sounds much better to me!

Here are two available options for you, based on your hair's history:

If you do not dye your hair and haven't within the past six to eight months, follow Dry Hair Treatment Plan 1.

If you currently do dye your hair, and want to protect the color, follow Dry Hair Treatment Plan 2.

Okay, let's transform some fabulous locks!

Dry Hair Treatment Plan 1

If you do not dye your hair, this method of deep hair conditioning and revival is a great one I have used many times. It combines a natural dry hair conditioner with heat infusion to create healthy hair.

What's better? Well, you get a bonus! You can use the method below in addition to create the silkiest hair possible.

For Plan 1, you will need 1/2 cup warm/hot olive oil, a shower cap or plastic wrap, shampoo and conditioner of choice, and several hot towels.

This dry hair treatment recipe works because it penetrates into the hair shaft to deep condition and introduce moisture. This specific process is super effective because it then locks in the moisture so it can't escape.

Depending on how dry your hair is, plan on using this conditioner for dry hair once every week or two.

Begin by soaking all of your hair in the hot olive oil. (Be sure it isn't too hot!) Cover your hair with the shower cap or plastic wrap.

Then, wrap a hot towel around your head to induce the moisturizing infusion. Keep the other towels hot in the dryer.

Leave the oil in your hair for 30-40 minutes, rotating hot towels every 10 minutes.

When you are finished, simply rinse your hair with warm water. Then, apply a generous amount of shampoo and rinse with cold water. Shampoo again and rinse with cold water.

Condition your hair as you normally would, leaving it on for three minutes, and rinse with cold water to retain the moisture in your hair.

Dry Hair Treatment Plan 2

Because you dye your hair, you will need a few color-enhancing products for dry hair to ensure that your dye isn't washed away. Don't worry, they aren't expensive.
Dry Hair Treatment

First, you need a color-protecting conditioner of your choice for dry hair treatment. I personally use Pantene and have found that it conditions very well. It also softens and protects damaged hair and frizzy hair.

The second is also a color-protecting conditioner, plus more. Regenal (made by Wella) Instant pH Normalizing Lotion works wonders!

You can find it in any Sally Beauty Supply for about $4.50. Check their website to order online if you do not have a location nearby.

The last product you will need is a knock-off version of the Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Serum. It is made by Generic Value Products and is a smoothing serum. This product provides quite the miracle for brittle hair! You can also buy this formula at Sally Beauty Supply for about $9.

Condition your hair as usual in the shower with your Pantene color-protecting conditioner. Let it soak into your hair for two to three minutes, and be sure to rinse with cold water.

Then, work a generous amount of the Regenal pH balancer throughout all of your hair. Pay special attention to your tips!Let this conditioner sit for two minutes, and rinse with cold water.

(Note: Be sure to squeeze out all of the water from your hair before using this product! You will get much better results.)

After you have finished your shower, gently untangle your damp hair with a wide-tooth comb. Part your hair as you normally do.

Pour a nickel sized amount of the smoothing serum into your hand, and work over one side of your part. Be sure to use more at the ends and less at your roots, so you don't appear greasy and your tips get hydrated!

Do the same with the other side. Apply any more that is necessary to untouched areas. Then, let your hair air dry. The results are stunning!

As an extra step, if necessary, you can use a special Redken product on dry hair to further stop frizz and dryness.

Redken Anti Snap comes in a dark blue pump bottle, and works very well on frizz. Plus, it smells great!
