Treating anxiety disorder begins with knowing which type of anxiety you have. Below we go over the various types of disorders and their causes.
Panic Disorder
Panic disorder causes people to have frequent panic attacks over various things that cause fear. People who have panic attacks generally feel scared, edgy and panicky, causing them to act rashly.
They can also have physical symptoms like a pounding heart and pain in their chest. Many people believe they are having a heart attack when in reality they are having an anxiety attack.

Sometimes people have panic attacks and believe that they have panic disorder, however, having one attack doesn't necessarily mean you have the disorder. If it happens multiple times however, you probably do and it would be a good idea to see your doctor.
Generally speaking there are two causes of this issue. Bipolarity is often the main culprit and can be treated with professional help. The other cause is usually psychosis, a condition where a person becomes out of touch, acts illogically and often feels threatened for no reason.
Social Phobia
One of the most common forms of anxiety comes from social phobia. This is a condition where a person feels very scared that they might be humiliated in front of other people.
These people often have low self esteem, have trouble looking others in the eye, and rarely say much in public situations. They usually have trouble “putting themselves out there” and are too frightened to have all eyes on them.

Unfortunately, researchers are finding that one of the causes of social phobia can be genetic. If relatives in your family have it, you are likely to as well. According to the National Institute of Mental Health, there seems to be a part of your brain that controls fear, and this piece may have problems that cause such phobias. Researchers are also saying that hormones could play a role in having social phobia.
These causes of anxiety attacks should help you to discern your next course of action in getting treatment. Often if one can understand the underlying problem, then they may understand how to treat the main problem.
