I swear by apple cider vinegar for clearing up acne. It is hands down THE best product I have ever tried, and at just a few dollars per bottle, it certainly is the cheapest. I strongly encourage anyone who gets acne to give apple cider vinegar a shot.
Try this natural recipe and tonic to clear your skin of blemishes and balance out redness.
1 cup warm water
1/4 cup organic apple cider vinegar
2 teaspoons honey
1. Mix the ingredients thoroughly into the warm water.
2. Dip a cotton ball into the water.
3. Begin by patting the cotton all over your face, neck, or back.
4. Then, use a circular motion to blend it into your skin.
5. Let the apple cider vinegar mix soak in for ten minutes.
6. Rinse and moisturize.
The honey is added in to help reduce redness on your skin. If you don't like the slightly sticky feeling, go ahead and omit the honey. It won't affect your results.
The unfortunate side to commercial acne cleansers and face washes is that they can be very expensive if you use them as part of a daily routine. Another problem? They often don't work at all, and most can damage your skin with chemicals.

To understand how and why ACV treats acne, we will first look at where it comes from.
When apples ferment, they create a strong solution known as vinegar that is full of antibacterial agents.
During fermentation, the apples begin to anaerobically decompose, bringing together all of the vitamins and minerals from the fruits into a conglomerate pile of decomposing matter.
When the vinegar from these rotting apples remains unprocessed and kept with its "mother", which is also produced by the apples, it carries with it a very strong potency to help other living beings.
Horses and moose are notorious for finding piles of fermenting apples and eating them, often until they become drunk.
In very large doses, this could potentially cause ethanol poisoning. In small doses, however, fermented fruit is often beneficial to the body.
Apple cider vinegar is a fabulous home remedy for pimples. Be sure to buy the raw organic version, as it will do much more for your skin and health than a pasteurized version.
Using apple cider vinegar is very safe if you use it properly. It is also very effective and very cheap. You can buy an entire bottle of it for $4-5 in a grocery store, whereas you probably will pay $8-9 for a 5oz brand name cleanser.
If you are pregnant, you will be happy to know that this acne apple cider vinegar treatment is safe to use in moderation during your pregnancy, so you can skip chemical-filled cleansers if you get hormone-induced acne!
The most common way to treat your acne with this method is to apply it topically. Because the vinegar is very strong, you should dilute it to the ratio of three parts water and one part ACV.
Put three tablespoons of warm water and one tablespoon of apple cider vinegar in a small cup or bowl. Dip a cotton ball in the mix and massage your face and neck (or wherever it is needed) until the area is soaked.
Allow your skin to air dry. You can rinse your face if you really need to, but it is best to leave it on your skin for 24 hours. Don't worry, the vinegar smell fades after about ten minutes.
I wear it to bed and even put my makeup over it in the morning after my face has dried! This is a great way to prevent makeup induced acne.
Apple Cider Vinegar for Acne
It is a good idea to apply an oil-free moisturizer to your face about ten minutes after applying the solution so your face doesn't dry out and produce more oil and redness.
The smell of the vinegar is strong and unpleasant at first, but as it dries you shouldn't be able to detect it very well.
Another method of acne treatment is to drink organic apple cider vinegar daily.
For best results, take one tablespoon (mixed in water or honey) twice per day with your meal. This will help clear your acne by washing out the toxins in your body.
If you have a severe acne problem, your best plan of action is to take the mixture orally and topically each day following a strict regimen. It really is an inexpensive, chemical free and effective way to keep your face bright and beautiful.
The first thing most people notice after using it on their face is that it smooths out the texture of skin. While acne-sufferers often have bumpy or flaky skin, most notice that after a day or two of use this clears.
If you have oily skin, it is also likely that any acne you have will dry up quickly and, with daily use, stop proliferating on your skin.
Use apple cider vinegar for acne treatment anywhere on your body where you have pimples.
Another perk is that it reduces redness on your face. (You must use a daily moisturizer though!) It is quite common to see your skin tone, texture and color even out while breakouts become less and less frequent with the apple cider vinegar for acne remedy.
